Anthony Wetherington, M.D., M.D.

Anthony Wetherington, M.D., is a dedicated Hospital Medicine physician at SageWest Health Care. He brings a thoughtful, patient‑centered approach to medicine and a deep commitment to caring for individuals during their most vulnerable moments.

Dr. Wetherington earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his Family Practice Residency at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio. His early exposure to medicine—shadowing a local physician and working in medical records—shaped his lifelong desire to support patients throughout every stage of their healthcare journey.

As a Family Medicine physician transitioning into Hospital Medicine, Dr. Wetherington values the opportunity to care for patients during critical and often challenging times. He believes in treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and views the art of medicine as grounded in presence, compassion, and understanding, even when modern medicine cannot fully heal.

Dr. Wetherington speaks some Spanish and has participated in medical mission work in the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his horses and dogs, as well as hunting and being outdoors.
